Le Chang’s appointment ushers in next stage of evolution for AAAIM

San Francisco, CA, June 11, 2012 – The Association of Asian American Investment Managers (AAAIM), an alliance of prominent, successful Asian American leaders, has named Jan Le Chang its new President. In her role, Ms. Le Chang will continue to strengthen and support resources for Asian American investment managers by broadening business and investment avenues, generating greater access to institutional funds in the U.S. and Asia and establishing AAAIM as a vital business resource for its members.

AAAIM is the only organization for emerging money managers catering exclusively to Asian American investment professionals and the Asian American investment community at large. In addition to providing support for Asian Americans in the U.S., AAAIM also serves as conduit between Asian American investment managers and Asia-based institutional investors.

Ms. Le Chang replaces Brenda Chia, who served as AAAIM’s president since 2007. Ms. Chia will continue to serve as an active member of the board.

“AAAIM is a valuable resource for Asian American money managers, and I am honored to have the opportunity to build on the momentum of my predecessor and our members,” said Jan Le Chang, newly appointed President for AAAIM. “My goal is to establish AAAIM as a recognized platform for investment managers to exchange ideas and conduct business with each other and institutional investors, both domestically and abroad.”

“We are thrilled to announce Jan Le Chang’s appointment as AAAIM’s new President,” said Clayton Jue, President of Leading Edge Investment Advisors and founding board member and current chair of AAAIM. “Jan brings more than 12 years of financial services and investment management experience to her new position, including her great work with emerging managers. We look forward to deepening investment channels for our membership and prospering under her leadership.”

Most recently, Ms. Le Chang was a Vice President at Centinela Capital Partners responsible for the evaluation, due diligence, manager selection and post-investment monitoring of emerging managers. Prior to joining Centinela in 2007, she was at Ares Management, an alternative asset management firm focused on private equity and leveraged finance. At Ares, she was involved in all aspects of investor relations and marketing. Before her tenure at Ares, Ms. Le Chang was with Grove Street Advisors, where she served as the primary liaison and key point of contact between the CalPERS and Grove Street organizations. She was also involved in the evaluation, due diligence, and fund manager selection process for venture capital and private equity funds. Ms. Le Chang also served as a Research Analyst with William O’Neil & Co., where she covered the construction, automotive and banking industries. Ms. Le Chang earned a B.S. in Neuroscience with a minor in English from the University of California Los Angeles and is a graduate of the Venture Capital Institute.
